Is your little one having a party soon to celebrate a birthday or some other special occasion? If so, then you are going to need to make some snacks to feed all his or her little friends who are likely to attend. Now, it is very tempting to just go out and buy a ton of junk food. The problem with this is that it is extremely unhealthy and you might be left caring for a bunch of small children with lots of sugar running through them. Plus, given that more and more people are becoming health conscious, serving unhealthy snacks may make a few parents hesitant to let their kids go. Thankfully, there are plenty of good, healthy snacks that you can serve at your kids party. Here are just a few of our favourite recipes.
Chopped veggies with fun dips
Now, usually kids and veggies are not a good combination, but with the right dip, you can make chopped up vegetables a hit at any party. If you want something familiar, chopped up celery with peanut butter dip is a great snack that is both healthy and delicious. Peanut butter is not the healthiest thing in the world, but a bit of peanut butter on some veggies is much better than something like candy. If peanut butter cannot be used due to allergies, you could always try a nice yogurt based dip or guacamole.
Fruit smoothies
Why not try using a blender to make your own fruit smoothies that kids can enjoy while they are at the party? By using different combinations of fruit, you can create a variety of great tasting smoothies, all of which are sure to be a hit with kids. Fruit smoothies will have a lot of sugar in them, but they will also have a bunch of vitamins and nutrients. Plus, the amount of sugar in a fruit smoothie will be a fraction of the sugar that you would find in regular kid’s fruit juice. By adding in some ice to the smoothies, you can make them into a refreshing, healthy beverage for outdoor parties in the summers.
Homemade fruit lolly pops
Using a combination of juice and fruit, you can create homemade lollies with real pieces of fruit in them (if you want an even healthier alternative, you could substitute the juice for your kid’s favourite kind of yogurt). You can use any kind of fruit you want, but berries work best because of their small size. Kids love them and because they are frozen, they are a great treat for kids who are looking for a way to cool off after playing. These lollies are sure to be a hit at any kids party.
